'Tattooed native American chief throws water on his followers in preparation for going to war. Includes buckets of water, feathered and skin headdresses, spears, bows arrows, war clubs, shield, scene of preparation for warfare, and fire.The text describes the second expedition by the French under René de Laudonničre which made a treaty with the great Timacua [Timucua] chief, Saturiova. Here Saturiova throws water on his soldiers entreating them to spill the enemy's blood as he has spilled the water. With the other bucket he threw water on the fire and entreated his soldiers to extinguish their enemies as he has extinguished the fire. This work was published by Theodor de Bry from manuscript notes and drawings made by Jacques le Moyne de Morgues, an illustrator and explorer, who sailed with René de Laudonničre on the 1564 Huguenot expedition to Florida.
